The primary socialization of a child is with the family. Parents are the key role models, and children are always looking up to them for guidance, support, validation and love. Parents, knowingly or unknowingly, exert an enormous amount of influence in a child’s life.

As parents, we want to give the best to our children, but in the process we sometimes enter the domain of overparenting. Striking the right balance of parenting is not an easy task. How much support does a school going child need? There is definitely no quatification available or possible. The requirements differ with age and temperament…each child is unique. Parenting should not become a competitive sport, it is a very intimate relationship between you and your child.
